Not perfect of course. When you are in the process of "raising a past business from the dead"...it takes time, work and commitment and that is what I experienced in a good way. Almost like being among family which is rare for ANY restaurant. This "New Denny's" I have no problem recommending to anyone and this from a USMC combat veteran!
Great cooks! IF there was a problem...it was "fixed" immediately and with a "smile"!
The 3 stars are for the young waiter (blond hair and glasses) that helped us, all by himself. He had asked a supervisor and another person for help and there scoffed at him (hence the lack of the other two stars) food was good as usual; per every other Denny's. I bought some awesome Voltron cups and tipped the young man well.
Once upon a long time ago...this Denny's was a failure in all areas of a restaurant business. Say 4 years ago. Rumored to be going out of business because of lousy management, servers with mental issues who treated customers with little or no respect. Food was on and off when it came to being prepared right and if you pointed out a problem...you were made to feel "it was YOUR fault"! And service was just a meaningless "word"! They made you feel like you were doing them a favor to do business with them. In fact...I could feel the negativity from the servers when I walked through the door. That is why I never came back....
So this last week I just returned to Rapid and decided to see if anything had changed being it was still there. To my shock and utter surprise, I felt I was walking into a "new Denny's"! The waiting staff were friendly, professional but personal in that there was a genuine desire to serve you. No attitudes like before. No "passing the buck" when it came to assisting a customer. Say TEAMWORK!
They didn't have soup ready at 11 which was the only reason we chose to go there because I had been sick. Our waiter, Smalls, was really great! Great personality!
Extremely messy place, they are not organized enough to keep the place clean. They don't clean tables untill they seat you. Service is very slow. Very poor even for a Denny's
Decent food for the price after the food mistakes were corrected. My Sirloin Steak was perfect but the bacon was barely cooked and floating in grease. The best part of our visit was a our server. Though we had a long wait she was a very attentive dynamite lady. Will eat there again in the future.
I met THE NEW manager and his assistants. ALL were involved and committed to making this Denny's into the kind of experience that would please every customer whether it be their taste buds or their interaction with the employee's which were all new and chosen to reflect just what the managers wanted! Outstanding results!
