I originally rented the car from the Costa mesa CA location. I began having difficulty breathing and other chemical sensitivity symptoms from some type of chemical that had been used in the car. I have a medical condition which makes me very sensitive to chemicals. While in rapid city SD I struggled for three weeks to get this car switched out and was repeatedly told that if I wanted to do so I would have to pay additional charges. I have been renting cars for years and had never been charged in the past for just switching a car out, especially for a medical condition that was verified with doctors documentation. The managers,Tim and Shane, were extremely rude and unprofessional. They would hang up on me, leave me on hold for very long amounts of time, not answer the phone when I would call back, and even caused my mother to miss a day of work from the stress this caused her from dealing with this office. I also missed a very important doctors appointment due to not being able to get there because of them. For three weeks I battled with them, unable to return to California because they would not let me switch this car out. During that time I was unable to use the car at all, yet I was still paying on it. There are multiple case numbers from roadside assistance to confirm this. I finally got the confirmation from them that I could switch the car out without any additional charges. Roadside assistance spoke with Shane the manager and he said that i could switch it out and i wouldn't be charged additional charges. This was noted by roadside assistance. I also spoke with Travis at the rapid city location upon picking up the car asking why they needed my debit card if there weren't going to be any additional charges and he just said that its protocol but I would not be charged. I checked with my bank today just to be sure and they charged me $253 through their office on top of the original contract charges I had from Costa mesa, CA. I called and spoke with Tim the manager and he was extremely rude,condescending and disrespectful. He hung up on me and refused to credit me the charges saying Costa mesa would have to be the ones to credit this amount even though Costa mesa has no way to access this contract as they are a licensee office and its a separate contract from the one I had with Costa mesa.

Don't fall for their $1.99/gal gas at return!!! The car, availability and staff were great and friendly there. The first problem with Hertz was in shopping for a good price. Through Hertz and all of the standard Kayak, Expedia types the price for the 5 day minivan were outrageous! Finally through Priceline I got a much better deal at about 1/2 the price for the same! Next, when picking up the car the gentleman asked if i wanted to gas it up myself at $2.39 or more a gallon uptown or have them do it at only $1.99/gal.? I said that that was a stupid question but do I have to decide now? "Yes". Then I accepted their price. But upon return I told them that there was just over 1/4 tank but they said it didn't matter; the charge was for a complete full tank no matter what! Then when I got the final bill for the 19 gallons, they added on an additional $4.42 for some strange tax and fee!!! Neither important policy was mentioned! So I ended up paying $2.95/gallon. Cheap live and learn experience!

Wow! Can't believe all the negative reviews for Hertz at Rapid City Regional Airport. I reserved my car online, was greeted with a smile when I picked up the car. I had never driven a car with push-button start before, and the staff was very helpful in explaining how it worked. The car was clean, full of gas, and fun to drive. Upon my return one day early, I was credited for the day I didn't use - no problems.

Made reservation online. Took a cab to the airport hertz, get there and they didn't want to take debit card. They needed a credit card. I paid debit at a hertz in north Dakota and there was no problem. Unprofessional at this location. I Will never ever rent from any hertz. Missed a very important family event.

Scammed me out of $250. Absolutely the worst car rental office I have ever used and I rent cars regularly. I will never go through hertz again due to this office. I don't even know how they are still in business this is literally a scam business they are running.

These guys helped us out in a crisis. They were super professional and gave us an amazing rate. They were able to get us in and out with a wonderful car in no time. I worked with a Joe behind the counter and he was amazing. Really, really appreciate these guys here at Hertz. We were in a panic and everyone else quoted us 5x as much as Hertz and because they knew we were in a panic. Hertz just gave us a good deal because they could and because they weren't trying to hammer us. Thank you!

This office should be shut down. Go through anyone but them if you don't want to be scammed out of your hard earned money.
