We walked into that hospital devastated to be saying goodbye to our dog. The loving people of the hospital were amazing! They sat on the floor with us while we wept with our dog. I couldn't believe their compassion.
They are a horrible clinic to go to. All they care about is money and the bed side manner is horrible. I was in there last night with my dog and majority of the time we were there was spent waiting for someone to help us waiting in some back room. Our situation was time sensitive and they wasted a good 1-2 hours of our time forcing a plan on us that they only cared if it got paid. They refused to touch my dog until we were able to pay the amount. They refused to work a plan out with us. They did not care for the health of the animal. My dog required treatment ASAP and they danced around that fact. We had to leave our room to hunt down a Tech for 20 min who could help us when the conditions started to worsen. Do not go to this clinic!
I really hope you can take your low reviews into consideration and educate your staff on the importance of good customer service. I had to ask staff their names and their positions - then still received rude replies. Most of your customers are going to be in a very vulnerable position as their loved ones are obviously not in good health --- please work on your empathy, bedside manner, and ability to communicate effectively with others. I understand you may be tired, work long days/nights - but we all do. Strive to be a place people want to take their pets - not a place we have to, as you're the only 24 hour option. I think not only would your customers be more satisfied, but maybe your staff's moral would improve as well.
Last month (November 2017) we brought our basset hound, Martha, to the hospital. It was a Saturday night, our regular vet was closed for the weekend, and we live in Spearfish. Unfortunately our sweet hound had ruptured a disc in her back and her hind end was paralyzed. The staff at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital very carefully and compassionately walked us through our options and then took amazing care of both Martha and us as we made the difficult decision to put her down. They gave us as much time with her as we needed, explained things clearly, allowed us to stay with her as long as we wanted (and through the whole process so she was never alone), gave us hugs when we were crying, and sent us a lovely card with her paw prints a few days later in the mail. These kind and caring people made a miserable experience better. I would recommend them for emergency veterinary care to anyone.
It appeared that our 7 pound dog had eaten a human pill. It took over an hour to get to Rapid City from the hills. Were seen immediately by a very caring vet, who researched the pill and made recommendations. Before the activated charcoal was administrated, a more detailed search found the missing pill and all was stopped. As a vacation traveler it is wonderful to find such a good animal clinic. To top every thing off, they wouldn't even charge us for the service. Thank You and God Bless you.
We had to put our sweet dog down over Memorial weekend. Our vet was closed. In fact everyone was closed except the Emergency Veterinary Hospital.
We love those people. If we can bring ourselves to love another dog, we will definitely choose the Emergency Veterinary Hospital as our new vet.
