Grace focused, loving community, teaching true to Scripture
My family and I attended Christmas Eve service at Rimrock Church. This was the most disturbing service I've ever experienced. I'm not a member here so I'm not familiar with their normal practices, however, the sermon was completely inappropriate. Nic Ewing spoke of all the horrific things we do to each other. "Violating young girls" "Fathers who sneak in and do horrific things to their daughters in the middle of the night" "these things exist"
All of this may be true, but I can't believe this was spoken of on Christmas. The birth of our savior Lord Jesus. It's a day of celebration and love. NOT a day to bring up all the hate in this world. We will never attend this church again. We all left feeling confused and appalled at what just happened.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Very unfortunate.
I've had trouble going to churches before and really haven't enjoyed the overall experience of any. I was in job corps and happened to go to this one not really sure what to expect but from the first time I went here until I left the state I thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt right at home and the entire congregation was super welcoming and I really felt like the word was speaking to me rather than having it recited to me. I really miss this church and wish I could go back at some point.
